The school was established in the year 1925 as a primary school and in 1936 it became a secondary school. In 1951, DAV institution upgraded the level and started running it as a high school. In 1964, the state government took over it. In 1997, it was upgraded and given the status of a senior secondary school.
At present the school has 456 students and 36 staff members. The school offers facilities like National Service Scheme, Bharat Scouts and Guides, NCC, Eco Club, Atal Tinkering & Robotics lab, Smart Classrooms, Digital Library and Vocational Education. Under the schemes provided by the government, free books are provided to students from class 6th to 10th and all types of scholarships are given to eligible students of all classes. In the year 2025 school get affiliated with CBSE and will run CBSE session from April, 2026 onwards.
